The building information was collected by interrogating the three dimensional (3D) laser scan data and by undertaking detailed building inspections. The 3D laser data was modelled in Revit2013 Studio software to measure building dimensions. Figures below show few views of the three dimensional model of the building generated. The model was then investigated and analysed to verify the as-built drawings, member sizing and to identify any building deformations that cannot be detected during a visual inspection.

The building located at 3 Prince Albert Road, Dunedin has been evaluated herein in detail. The detailed seismic assessment was performed using the widely accepted NSZEE guidelines, University of Auckland published guidelines and technical literature published in United States, and Europe.

For accurate assessment, as-built material properties and shear strength of underlying soil type profile were determined by performing a series of onsite bed joint shear sliding tests and Scala penetrometer tests. These values were then used to assess the overall structural capacity of the building and the strength of individual components.
